Cool and dry conditions are expected this weekend and into next week. && .SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...There are scattered showers and a couple thunderstorms occuring around Puget Sound this evening. A heavy downpour occurred here at NOAA just before 9pm with a couple flashes of lightning. The blustery northwest flow down the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Strait of Georgia continues--it has been windy at Sandy Point today with a few gusts to around 45mph and a wind advisory continues til midnight for Western Whatcom county. Winds will ease overnight. Dry, northerly flow will prevail over the weekend and extend into early next week. This is due to a strong, high-amplitude ridge that will park offshore. The weather looks dry through the period but we will see below normal temperatures. Expect highs in the lower to mid 50s with lows reaching the 30s. .LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...High pressure and offshore flow will continue to bring cool but dry weather as we move through next week. Temperatures will trend below normal through the period.
