000 FXUS66 KPQR 070940 AFDPQR Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Portland OR 239 AM PDT Sun May 7 2017 .SYNOPSIS...Patchy morning clouds this morning will give way to a mostly sunny afternoon. High pressure will result in dry weather through Wednesday with temperatures warming Sunday through Tuesday. Cooler, showery weather returns to the region late next week as low pressure area arrives from the west. && .SHORT TERM...Today through Wednesday...High pressure will result in dry weather today through Wednesday. Low level winds will be rather light and mostly diurnal/terrain driven. Expect some nocturnal marine stratus to develop each night, but subsidence from the upper ridge of high pressure will limit how far the low clouds along the coast will move inland in the mornings. The upper ridge axis shifts inland Tuesday night as an upper level trough approaches. This will result in a slightly deeper marine layer Tuesday night and more inland intrusion of marine clouds Wednesday morning. Temperatures today will warm to near seasonal normals with interior temperatures peaking in the mid to upper 60s and coastal temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s. The interior temperatures will warm Monday and Tuesday with inland temperatures peaking in the low 70s on Monday, and mid 70s on Tuesday. The increased expected marine clouds Tuesday night and the approach of an upper trough will end the heating trend, but still expect the interior temperatures on Wednesday to warm into the low 70s. ~TJ .LONG TERM...No Changes. Previous discussion follows...Minor changes to previous discussion...Wed night through Saturday...An upper level low will drop se towards the WA coast during the latter half of the week. Models in general agreement in showing the initial chances for showers delayed a little from previous runs to Wed night. A cold front appears to provide ...
