Weather Forecast

000 FXUS61 KLWX 020049 AFDLWX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Baltimore MD/Washington DC 849 PM EDT Mon Jul 1 2019 .SYNOPSIS... High pressure will remain overhead through tonight. The high will move offshore Tuesday through the end of the week while upper-level high pressure builds from the south. Hot and humid conditions will return for mid to late week along with chances for showers and thunderstorms. A cold front will approach this weekend and it may settle just to the south early next week. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TUESDAY/... High pressure will slide east off the coast overnight and remain offshore for Tuesday. Thus, dew points, presently mostly in the 50s, will begin to creep back up, with values nearing or exceeding 70F by late Tuesday. In addition, warm advection aloft should allow surface temps to rise back into the 90s after lows in the 60s to near 70F overnight. With the increased humidity, heat indices likely approach advisory levels, but probably fall short, so no headlines are planned. With much of the forcing remaining across PA and the Ohio Valley during the day, expect convection to mostly develop to the north and west, however, some propagation southeastward and into the region is possible. && .SHORT TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... Bermuda high pressure will be firmly in control Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Any convection Tuesday evening should dissipate, but extremely moist and unstable atmosphere will be present to start Wednesday. With lee-side pressure trough expected to develop again, and ample CAPE by afternoon, expect another, more widespread round of showers and t-storms to develop. With limited shear, these will be mostly CAPE/Cold pool driven, so damaging winds and heavy downpours are the main threat, though some hail could also occur. With the heat and humidity, highs ...
