An upper low will an increasing chance of showers mid week. Cooler and showery conditions will prevail Thursday through Saturday. && .SHORT TERM...Satellite and obs indicate some areas of stratus patchy fog around south Puget Sound, the Kitsap and southwest interior at 3 am. Otherwise, mostly clear skies prevail across most the area as high pressure builds aloft. Any lingering clouds or fog this morning should dissipate quickly by mid morning with mostly sunny skies over the area by midday. Weak onshore flow will hold temperatures back slightly, but highs should still warm a few degrees over yesterday. Expect highs in the low to mid 60s this afternoon in the metro areas. High pressure will dominate the pattern Monday and Tuesday. A weak system will brush by to the north of Washington but precipitation is not expected. The main affect may be into increase onshore flow and keep high temperatures from warming further, but still reaching the low to mid 60s. The ridge strengthens on Tuesday with lighter northwesterly onshore flow which will not hinder temperatures much. 500 mb height rises and MOS guidance suggest a good chance of hitting close to 70 around greater Puget Sound Tuesday afternoon. .LONG TERM...High pressure will shift eastward on Wednesday as an upper trough approaches from the west. There is slight timing differences among models but most suggest some chance of showers reaching the coast early, and maybe parts of the interior by afternoon.
